  1. What LAPRESS Is and Its Uses

LAPRESI belongs to a group of medicines known as calcium channel blockers (dihydropyridine derivatives) that lower blood pressure.

LAPRESI is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults over 18 years old (not recommended for children under 18).

  1. What You Need to Know Before Taking LAPRESS

Do Not Take LAPRESS If:

  • You are allergic to lercanidipine hydrochloride or any other ingredient in the medication (see section 6 for the list of ingredients).
  • You have certain heart conditions:
    • Obstruction of blood flow from the heart.
    • Untreated heart failure.
    • Unstable angina (chest discomfort at rest or worsening symptoms).
    • A recent heart attack (within the past month).
  • You have severe liver or kidney problems or are undergoing dialysis.
  • You are taking medications that inhibit liver metabolism, such as:
    • Antifungal drugs (ketoconazole or itraconazole).
    • Macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin, clarithromycin, troleandomycin).
    • Antiviral drugs (ritonavir).
  • You are taking cyclosporine (used to prevent organ transplant rejection).
  • You consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice.

Warnings and Precautions

Before taking LAPRESS, consult your doctor or pharmacist if:

  • You have heart problems.
  • You have liver or kidney issues.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor (see “Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility” below).

  1. How to Take LAPRESS

Adults

The recommended dose is 10 mg daily, taken at the same time each day, preferably in the morning at least 15 minutes before breakfast. Your doctor may increase the dose to 20 mg if needed.

Elderly Patients

No dosage adjustment is required, but treatment should start with caution.

Children and Adolescents

This medication is not recommended for children under 18.
